Welcome to Ubale (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a dating application designed for users in Malawi. Ubale connects people through shared interests (called Tribes) and meaningful discovery features including in-app messaging, voice calls, and QR-based matching.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal data when you use the Ubale mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”). It also explains your rights under the Malawi Data Protection Act 2024 (MDPA), the Electronic Transactions and Cyber Security Act 2016, and the Constitution of Malawi (Section 21, Right to Privacy).

2. Data We Collect

We collect account data, profile data, location data, Tribe membership data, usage and activity data, verification data, QR code data, device and technical data, analytics data, consent records, and support communications as described in the full policy document.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to provide the Service, personalize discovery, enforce daily limits, verify identity, send push notifications, maintain safety, analyse usage if consented, communicate with you, and comply with applicable law.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with other users as needed for normal matching and discovery, with trusted third-party providers such as Supabase, Resend, ZEGOCLOUD, Google OAuth, Expo, and Microsoft Power BI, and when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

5. Data Security

We use TLS encryption, secure storage, Row-Level Security, hashed passwords, pseudonymised analytics, and immediate deletion of verification selfies. We also maintain access controls and monitoring for authorised administrative use.

6. Your Rights

Under the Malawi Data Protection Act 2024 and the Constitution of Malawi, you may request access, correction, erasure, withdrawal of consent, objection, data portability, and complaint handling. We will respond to rights requests within 30 days.
